Can you Freeze This Chicken and Broccoli Recipe?
Yes, you can freeze this healthy chicken and broccoli. This is a great make ahead recipe for meal planning. It thaws great and when you re-heat it in the microwave the flavors are just as good. Only issue we’ve run into is that you can’t really make alot at once because it depends on the size of your air fryer. So if you have a small air fryer that means you’ll have to cook these in multiple batches for meal planning. Thanks so much friends, and happy air frying to you!
Air Fryer Chicken, Broccoli, and Onions
Yield: 4 servings
Prep Time: 10 minutes mins
Cook Time: 20 minutes mins
Total Time: 30 minutes mins
DO NOT pre-heat the air fryer for this recipe. The chicken and broccoli will cook down and shrink, so if it the basket feels full at first, there will be less volume aftereverything is cooked.
Two Options for Air Frying Broccoli & Onions: Cooking the chicken halfway, then adding the veggies will cook the broccoli & onions moderately. The other option is to air fry them all together from the beginning which makes the broccoli/onions extra crispy. Or you can add the veggies at anytime that cooks it to your preference. After your first batch, you'll know better what method works for your air fryer and personal liking.

Notes
Air Frying Tips and Notes:
Shake or turn as directed in the recipe.Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket.
Recipes were tested in 3.4 to 6 qt air fryers. If using a larger air fryer, the recipe might cook quicker so adjust cooking time.
Remember to set a timer to shake/flip/toss as directed in recipe.
If your air fryer is preheated or if you are cooking multiple batches, you may need to reduce timing by a few minutes (unless preheating is called for in the recipe).

I’m in love with this recipe. It’s mind-blowing just how easy this was to make.

My air fryer came with a rotisserie basket which I have never used. Would this recipe be a good one to use it with?
-
Diane — Reply
Hi Pamela, you don’t need the rotisserie basket for this recipe. The rotisserie basket will be more complicated to use and more stuff to wash.

I really liked it. I had fresh pineapple on hand and added that in the last 2 minutes. Next time I will add more broccoli

This marinade is delicious! Made amazing chicken. But the instructions charred my broccoli and made it inedible. I didn’t even cook for as long as the recipe stated (only about 13 minutes). Next time I’ll probably try a lower temp.

It was very filling and the marinade was pretty good. It was a bit salty for me. Next time I think I will add a little honey to sweeten things up a bit.

What if I have cooked rotisserie chicken? Marinade the same and cook for how long? Air Fryer virgin here. <3
-
AFW — Reply
Hi Jacq! You can air fry pre-cooked chicken. Best way to do this is to cook the broccoli for about 5-7 minutes first, then add the cooked chicken and finish air frying. That way it gives the broccoli a chance to cook without drying out the rotisserie chicken. Have fun!

Instead of onions, can I use carrots ? Would it change time or temp?
-
AFW — Reply
Hi Laura! Yes, you can use carrots but they should be cut small into bite sized pieces so that they cook around the same time as the chicken. After your first batch, you’ll know what the best size of cut carrots are for your specific air fryer and preferred liking.

Can you use frozen broccoli for this recipe?
-
AFW — Reply
Hi Sara, Yes you can but it can be a little soggier. We suggest cooking the broccoli separately and at 400F, a high temperature, to help crisp the broccoli. Thank you!

Thank you for the added tip on using frozen broccoli instead of fresh (store was out Ö). Turned out perfect and I loved the little charred pieces of the broccoli with the dish. Love a new meal rotation entry!!
