Does airflow remove all stains? ›

How often should you get Airflow? Some patients like to visit every 6-12 months to top up their treatment. If you have very little plaque and tartar build up, you may find that you need even fewer visits. You can discuss your treatment schedule with you dental hygienist during your initial appointment.

Gross Debridement Cleaning:

Gross debridement cleanings are the most heavy-duty of teeth cleanings designed to clean teeth with copious amounts of plaque and tartar. These cases are generally individuals that struggle to maintain an oral care routine or who have avoided the dentist for a significant amount of time.

Airflow is excellent for removing stains, plaque, and early-stage tartar, especially in hard-to-reach areas. A scale and polish might be needed for tougher, more established tartar. Both methods are often used together for a thorough cleaning. Our hygienists and therapists will help you make the right decisions.

The treatment lasts around 30 minutes, during which time the teeth will be cleaned with the air/water/bicarbonate jet. This may be combined with ultrasonic staining for any tartar which may need to be removed. Anaesthetic is not required and the cleaning is pain-free.
