The 2023-2024 NHL hockey season is back, and the Doc's Sports team is here to provide you with winning expert NHL picks daily. The season begins on October 10th and the Vegas Golden Knights will try to repeat as champions. The season will follow a more traditional format (October – June) for the second straight year.

Every pick that we provide is accompanied by a detailed write-up with full reasoning and explanation. Each NHL experts pick is rated on a scale of 1-8, with 8 being the strongest.

Home ice has held strong in this series and the last three games have all been won by the home club. We think this is a very public line tonight and these teams have shown to be evenly matched in this series.

Great 8*NBA Winner on Sunday . Incredible +2500 Run in the NBA Playoffs, 7*MMA Wins as well and +4800 on the year in the MMA. It's the greatest two words in hockey and all of sports for that matter, Game 7! We are rolling with the Canucks. First off, this is a fantastic public fade. The names McDavid, Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins, Kane and on and on and on lead you to believe the Oilers roll here and Vancouver has no shot to win this at home in Game 7 right? We think, however, Vancouver has a great shot to win as this series has alternated wins from the outset, with Vancouver winning Games 1, 3, and 5, and Edmonton winning 2, 4 and 6. Not that that really comes into the handicap here but just something to note if you believe in the zig-zag theory. Remember Vancouver was right up there in the NHL in scoring with Edmonton this season, they are both two top six offenses in the league, and Edmonton might be a little better on the power play, however Vancouver is 7-3 SU in their last 10 games against Edmonton, and that is including this series, so Vancouver really has had Edmonton's number the past few seasons in general, and we think Rick Tocchet has a fantastic game plan here to keep the Oilers at bay and get their chances on the other end. The Canucks will likely be without one of their best players in Brock Boeser, which is actually why this line is headed the Oilers way so quickly, but we believe when a star player is out, the team will rally without him and everyone else will step up. At the end of the day we do not think the Oilers should be favored by this much, therefore there is value on Vancouver, and we will take our shot, as we are laying no juice here with tremendous upside in profit. We are 8-1 and 12-3 in the NHL for +3755 and at the end of the day, it has been forever since Vancouver gave up 5 goals to a team and it has been forever it seems since Edmonton has scored 5 goals, and has Vancouver comes back home, off a loss, with a terrible defensive output on this great public fade, we will take Vancouver.

Tough to close it out on the road here and I like the Canucks at home here. No one in this series has won back to back games and the Canucks off their worst game of the series return to home ice where they have won 2 out of 3 games in this series. At this point it is insane any team should be -160 or higher, especially on the road.

Take Vancouver on the Moneyline as my top NHL pick for Monday night. This pick falls into one my top NHL systems and I really like Vancouver in this spot as they do have the superior goaltender in this series. I do expect Vancouver to play a much more disciplined game and limit Edmonton’s power plays. Vancouver has allowed just 2.5 goals per game at home this season where they have averaged 3.4 goals per game and Vancouver has allowed just 7 power play goals in the playoffs out of 40 opportunities for their opponents with the extra man. Edmonton has allowed 3.1 goals per game on the road this season and I have to ride with the hot goaltender here. Play Vancouver Moneyline

[NHL] [4-Unit] (036) Vancouver Canucks +140 over Edmonton Oilers (9:00PM EST) The fact of the matter is; the Oilers have more talent, but they have not performed well on the road whatsoever. They are just 24-22 SU away from home for a -14.7% ROI. This falls to a -14.8% ROI when listed as the favorite. On the flip-side, the Canucks are 30-17 SU at home for a +6.6% ROI, which includes an impressive 6-2 record as a dog for a +61.2% ROI. So far in these playoffs, Vancouver actually rank higher than Edmonton in terms of xGoals % at 51.83% compared to 49.17%. They also have a +1.61 Expected Goal Differential whereas the Oilers are at -0.72. This could go either way, but the value is most definitely on the side of Vancouver. This should be epic.

Edmonton has looked like the much better team in this series as they've outshot Vancouver by an average of 7 shots per game. The Oilers are off the most impressive showing we've seen so far in the first six games as well winning game six by a 5-1 score over the Canucks.
