The menu included a scrumptious spread of chicken alfredo, vegetables, and soft dinner rolls. While everything tasted amazing, the homemade roll left a lasting impression on me.

Infused with the perfect blend of rosemary, thyme, and garlic, the dough was soft and fluffy, making it a recipe worth asking for!

Since then, I have tried this recipe many times, and it gets rave reviews each time! As a result, I felt like it was one that I had to share with my readers, knowing that you, too, would love these rolls!

Rosemary Garlic Dinner Rolls Ingredients

For this buttery rosemary rolls recipe, the ingredient list is simple. I stock my pantry with supplies from Azure Standard for healthy, organic, and wholesome ingredients.

  • Warm Water – instead of a warm milk mixture, this recipe only uses warm water (100˚-110˚F) to activate the yeast.
  • Yeast – for these rolls, I use standardactive-dry yeast.
  • Honey – you can use either honey or sugar to help feed the yeast in the dough. It also adds sweetness to the rolls and helps balance out the savory flavors.
  • Olive Oil – instead of butter, this recipe uses olive oil to enhance the flavor and adds richness and moisture to the rolls.
  • Flourorganic all-purpose flour is the main ingredient that gives the rolls their structure.
  • Salt – I use celtic salt to season the bread dough.
  • Herbs – rosemary, garlic, and thyme are the star flavors of these rolls. While you can use fresh herbs, I use dried herbs with minced garlic mixed into the dough.

Tips for Making Rosemary Garlic Rolls

Here are a few tips to consider when preparing homemade rosemary yeast rolls…

Use Warm Water: the water temperature used in the recipe is important. Water that is too hot can kill the yeast, while water that is too cold may not activate it. Use warm water between 100˚-110˚F to properly activate the yeast.

Check the Yeast Expiration Date: before starting the recipe, check the expiration date of your yeast. Expired yeast can result in a dough that does not rise properly.

Knead the Dough Well: kneading the dough is crucial for developing the gluten, which helps the dough rise properly and gives the rolls a nice texture. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes or until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Let the Dough Rise Properly: sufficient rise time is crucial for achieving a soft and fluffy texture in dinner rolls. Once the dough has been kneaded, it should rise in a warm location until it doubles. After the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into rolls. The rolls should then be left to rise again.

Butter the Tops: to enhance the flavor and appearance of the rolls, use a pastry brush to brush tops with butter as soon as they come out of the oven. Then, cover them with a towel and allow them to cool.
