Homicide: New York: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) As true crime joints go it’s well-made, hitting on a mix of investigatory detail and grisly punctuation, but the best thing about the show is the pungent sense of the city and its inhabitants, particularly the now mostly retired detectives. Mar 28, 2024 Full Review Homicide: New York: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Kristen Baldwin Entertainment Weekly The five-part series ensures that we see the men and women who solved and prosecuted these murders as human beings, people with insecurities, idiosyncrasies, and regrets — not just talking heads. Rated: B+ Mar 18, 2024 Full Review Homicide: New York: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Anne Brodie What She Said law enforcement is as much about quelling citizen fears as investigating crimes. And the level of caring we see in the detectives participating in the series is deeply reassuring. Rated: 4/4 Mar 22, 2024 Full Review Homicide: New York: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Johnny Loftus Decider The interview portions are powerful, because the participants in these cases are giving us the information and their memories firsthand. Which is much more than you can say for the reenactments... Mar 20, 2024 Full Review Homicide: New York: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Andy Dehnart Reality Blurred Homicide: New York gives the people who’ve done this work the most screen time, but it is not interested in interrogating or exploring their work as detectives or medical examiners. They’re just beats in a narrative... Rated: F Mar 20, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Jan V Way to much talking and interviewing the cops who did the investigation. Some of them are very annoying and made me root for the killer. Interesting cases, but not a good format for a true crime show. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/16/24 Full Review Andrew B Another “Cops are heroes” drama made for people who love grizzly murder details and true-crime podcasts. I could have solved many of these murders… they have suspects calling in and confessing and evidence all over the place. Even then they can’t secure a conviction and talk about “why, why, why…”… isn’t it their job to find out why? The NYPD isn’t able to solve most murders in NYC and fluff pieces like this don’t change that Rated 1.5/5 Stars • Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/01/24 Full Review Savannah G Solid, with a variety of cases that open your eyes to the life of detectives and some crazy stories about New York City and the crimes that happen there.
