Laken Riley’s alleged illegal immigrant killer accused of ‘peeping’ on UGA staffers as indictments drop (2024)

Georgia student Laken Riley’s alleged murderer, Jose Ibarra, has been indicted and charged with her murder and attempted rape, along with an additional accusation of “peeping” on a university staff member the day of her death.

The 10-count indictment came down on Tuesday, according to court documents. The Venezuelan illegal immigrant assaulted the 22-year-old nursing student while she was out for a run on the University of Georgia campus in Athens on Feb. 22. She was reportedly killed after being dragged off the dirt trail where she was allegedly stalked by Ibarra who was arrested the day of her murder.

“The grand jury indicted Ibarra on counts of malice murder, two counts of kidnapping with bodily injury, two counts of aggravated assault with intent to rape, two counts of aggravated battery, obstructing or hindering a person from making a 911 call, tampering with evidence and being a ‘peeping Tom,'” Fox News reported.

According to the indictment, the illegal immigrant is accused of killing Riley by inflicting blunt-force trauma to her head and then “asphyxiating her in a manner unknown to jurors.”

Jose Ibarra, the illegal Venezuelan animal who viciously murdered 22-year-old nursing student Laken Riley, is charged with 10 counts.

Ibarra is also accused of sneaking around an apartment at the University Village Housing Building ‘S.’ He is said to have “peeped through” a window, spying upon a university staff member the very same day that he killed Riley.

The suspect lived in an apartment building that is located on the edge of the park where Riley was running that day. The young nursing student’s scenic loop was accessible to Ibarra behind his apartment complex. His apartment was a five-minute walk from where Riley was murdered.

UGA Police Chief Jeffrey Clark called it a “crime of opportunity.”

The university said in a statement following Riley’s murder that it had invested $16 million “over the last eight years to hire more police officers, install more security cameras, enhance lighting, establish a nightly rideshare program, and create a UGASafe app.” None of that was enough to save the young woman, unfortunately.

I am pleased to share that Ms. Laken Riley’s murderer, Jose Ibarra, has been formally indicted by a Georgia grand jury.

This is a critical step in achieving justice for her and her family.

However, more must be done to ensure this can never happen to another American again—and…

“But we are committed to doing even more,” UGA asserted, lamely contending that the school had also “approved an additional phase of lighting improvements and security camera installations” and “will continue to evaluate” safety measures.

Ibarra crossed the southern border into El Paso, TX in September 2022. He was released on parole into the US according to ICE and DHS sources who spoke with Fox News.

“Jose and his brothers, Diego Ibarra, 29; and Argenis Ibarra, 24, lived together in the same apartment. All three men were questioned and taken into custody after Riley’s murder. Argenis and Diego first entered the United States on April 3, 2023, near Eagle Pass, Texas, and were deported the same day. They were arrested again on April 30 after crossing illegally into the U.S. near El Paso, Texas. They were later released and eventually traveled to Athens,” the media outlet noted.

“Diego Ibarra is charged with green card fraud and had ties to a known Venezuelan gang in the U.S., according to federal court documents,” Fox News concluded.
