Ranking World of Warcraft DPS Classes for Amirdrassil Raid Patch 10.2
- There are 26 DPS Class Specs in World of Warcraft between Ranged and Melee and all of them bring strengths and weaknesses to the new Amirdrassil Raid.
- Unlike Tanks and Healers, which can be shifted in and out depending on mechanics, not all WoW DPS classes are created equal.
- In the Amidrassil Raid classes like the Evoker, Enhancement Shaman and Havoc Demon Hunter are all S-Tier DPS.
Instead of a traditional, full tier list for the Dragonflight DPS in World of Warcraft, this list will outline some of the strengths of the Top 10 DPS classes for Amirdrassil, the Dream’s Hope. Keep in mind as balance and tuning changes are made, this list could change, but early reports and PTR testing show great promise with these 10 DPS classes in the new Patch 10.2 raid for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight.
Augmentation Evoker
The Evoker DPS specialization is considered by most to be the best class available when it comes to dealing damage. Icy Veins has them in the S+ Tier while Wowhead classifies them as an A Tier. They have great defensive capabilities, great damage potential and are incredibly mobile but it’s their Prescience ability to boost allies Critical Hit Rate that helps them outshine other DPS choices.
Havoc Demon Hunter
You’ll notice that a lot of the top DPS specializations in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight have something in common; they excel in both single-target damage as well as AoE. The Havoc Demon Hunter is no exception as they can contribute to both with a single talent build. They also have an extremely potent defensive raid cooldown in Darkness that could allow raid members to avoid damage completely from some sources.
Enhancement Shaman
Another amazing melee option for your Amirdrassil raid roster are Enhancement Shamans. They’re great in both single target fights and multi-target fights thanks to their cleave potential. But what really sets them apart from other DPS, is that like the Augmentation Evoker, they have the ability to aid other raid members in DPS potential with the Windfury Totem.
Frost Mage
The first ranged DPS on the list, the Mage class will always have at least one powerful specialization in World of Warcraft. The Frost Mage outclasses its counterparts in Amirdrassil (though both other specs come closer). The Frost Mage brings some great raid-wide benefits including a +5% Intellect bonus, a Bloodlust alternative and Mass Barrier which shields and absorbs damage for your entire party.
Assassination Rogue
This rogue specialization is another must-have class in Amirdrassil, the Dream’s Hope raid. Their Atrophic Poison ability reduces the damage of targets by 3% for 10 seconds when active. But the Assassination Rogue is also a major single target threat and thanks to recent reworks and set bonuses in Patch 10.2, they have amazing multi-target damage as well.
Devastation Evoker
Evoker was just introduced in Dragonflight, but both of its specializations have a place in Amirdrassil raid rosters. They may have the best, sustained single-target DPS in the entire game at this point. They also have great movement potential and bring Blessing of the Bronze as a raid buff, which reduces the CD on all movement abilities raid-wide.
Outlaw Rogue
The Outlaw Rogue brings the same benefits to your raid as the Assassination Rogue, but because of Blade Flurry they’re built better for AoE and cleave damage. You don’t always need to field both if you’re lacking a major raid buff or ability in another class, since a single Rogue could switch specializations back and forth based on what is needed most; single-target damage or AoE.
Fire Mage
Mages have historically always been a superior class, so it should be no surprises that all three specializations are on this list. There are very few weaknesses in the Fire Mage tree as they excel in nearly every department including Single Target and Cleave damage, have great defensive abilities and overall an exceptional toolkit. The only thing keeping them lower on the list is the fact that other classes can do what they do much better in one way or another. But still an all-around great pick for your Amirdrassil raid roster.
Balance Druid
The ranged DPS specialization for Druids bring respectable single-target damage to the raid, but they shine most in large AoE fights. They are one of the most invaluable thanks to their Starfall ability which allows them to DPS even if their enemies aren’t tightly grouped together. Plus, since the Tank and Healer specialization for Druid aren’t top tier, a Boomkin is probably the best way to ensure you have a Mark of the Wild in the raid roster.
Arcane Mage
Mages will almost always have competitive damage potential in World of Warcraft Raids, but the Arcane Mage helps to fill a very specific niche. While their overall single-target damage is fine, their burst damage potential is almost unrivaled. On bosses where you need high single-target damage in a small, controlled window, you want to have some Arcane Mages. They also have all the great defensive Mage CDs to help negate some damage in high raid-wide damage moments.
