Bugger, I was going to have this for my breakfast this morning, however I've just noticed that the best before date is 2nd December! That's the second time I've bought something past its sell-by date from the same shop.
I won't get ill if I eat this, will I? It's unwrapped and looks.....not green.

i've eaten one more than a YEAR old and there were no unintended results. Unless you see fungus on it or smells off, it should be ok. And FFS, if it tastes bad then dont continue.

If it has a 'Use By' date, then it usually means it'll go off soon after that date and you probably wouldn't want to eat it.
If it has a 'Best Before' date then that just means that it'll be at its 'best' before that date. Eating it afterwards is usually fine, just not as fresh tasting.

Take it back for a refund and complain, they shouldn't be selling out of date food.

Why does the price matter? It's out of date and shouldn't be on sale.

To be fair, is there really a difference between a fresh flapjack and a stale flapjack?

Because they can say 'Prove it was from here on said date'. If it's a store that is incapable of noticing/caring that, then they wont. If its a superstore, I seriously doubt they would have out of date food on sale.
But eat it, the out of date thing is a scam any way, I regually eat 1985 corn flakes, mmmm.

Yes, there would be absolutely no way of proving it.
The price matters because if I had spent £10 on something then it would be worth getting that money back, but I'm hardly going to go to the other end of Highgate to complain about something that cost me 75p.

Of course it would, but going back for a refund is, well, pointless.
